LAMB WITH CARROT SLAW

SERVINGS: 2

YOU'LL NEED:

1 rack of lamb (about 1 1/2 pounds, or 8 ribs), cut into chops and trimmed of fat

salt and pepper, to taste

1lb carrots

3 tbsp Dijon mustard

2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

2 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro

2 tbsp chopped scallions

2 tbsp red wine vinegar

1 tsp loosely packed orange zest

---------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season lamb with salt and pepper and add to skillet. Sear one side, then cook for 2 minutes on each side.

2. While the lamb cooks, add carrots to a running food processor, using chopper to push carrots through. Or grate the carrots on the large holes of a box grater.

3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, olive oil, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and orange zest. Add carrots and, with clean hands, toss with the dressing until carrots are well coated. Season with pepper. Let carrots marinate for 10 minutes. Serve with the lamb.

Long-Lasting Blowout!

Posted by shamkuzbari11 on April 20, 2016 at 1:10 PM Comments comments (0)

Listen up ladies!!

It appears to be that every step you take from the way you wash your face to your hairstyle techniques can destroy yours blow out!

Elle Magazine shared these amazing tips with us about how to keep a longer lasting blow out!

Treat your hair right, it deserves good care....

1. First, use the right shampoo and conditioner.

It's all about starting with clean, conditioned hair, says Kevin Mancuso, Global Creative Director at Nexxus New York Salon Care. "If you coat hair with ingredients that weigh it down, your hair will fall flat and your blowout won't look freshly done for more than a day," he says. Scan the label for lightweight hydrators capable of penetrating the outer layer of the hair strand. Try Nexxus New York Salon Care Therappe and Humectress Ultimate Moisture System. "The silicone-free shampoo provides a gentle cleanse, and the conditioner contains Concentrated Proteins and Protein Care Actives, specially formulated to target areas of the hair that need it most so hair is not weighed down," says Mancuso.

2. Loosen your topknot.

"As soon as you place hair into a pony or tight bun, you're ruining your blowout by creating odd bends," says Lona Vigi, a celebrity stylist for Nexxus New York Salon Care. To keep your hair out of your face, use this pro trick from Jennifer Yepez, a hair stylist in NYC: Brush hair straight up to the top of your head using a tightly bristled paddle brush. Next, wrap hair into a large, loose bun and secure with two bobby pins. If you have thicker hair, create two high buns side by side, she says.

3. Reach for dry shampoo.

Well, between shampoos, that is. And even non-oily hair needs it. Think about it: Hair that hasn't been washed for one, two, three (or more) days has come in contact with dirt, debris, pollution, and extra layers of hairspray, smoothing cream, etc. Reach for a lightweight aerosol dry shampoo like Nexxus New York Salon Care Dry Shampoo Refreshing Mist. Use it between washes to preserve your blowout, and make sure to aim it beyond just your roots. "Turn your head upside down and spray it throughout the length of hair," says Mancuso. Flip your head back up and use a paddle brush to distribute it from roots to ends.

4. Protect your hairline.

When washing your face, wear a wide cotton headband to avoid getting your hairline wet. "As soon as water hits the hair, it causes frizz," explains Vigi. Between shampoos, she recommends wrapping dry hair in a microfiber towel (or wearing a plastic shower cap) before you step in the shower to prevent steam from coming in contact with strands, which can cause frizz and make wavy textures curl up.

5. Use the right oils and serums.

You most likely already have some product in your hair from the initial blow-dry and you haven't washed it since, so it hasn't gone anywhere. If your hair needs some polishing, opt for formulas that are lightweight, like Nexxus New York Salon Care Encapsulate Sérum. "It's a miracle on third-day hair," says Mancuso. And apply smoothing serums and oils to ends only. Mancuso's tip: Brush hair up into a high ponytail and hold the base with one hand. With the other, pump one to three drops of Encapsulate Serum into your hand and run it down the length of your pony. "Your hair will look freshly blown out when you let it down," says Mancuso.

6. Look but don't touch (too much).

Constantly run your hands through your hair or twirl your ends? "Keep your hands away from your hair—especially right after a manicure or when using hand cream," says Vigi. "The natural oils on your skin plus those laced in hand cream will coat strands and ruin your blowout."
